All the Things I Remember Learning in Elementary School

I went to elementary school in the 90s in Oak Ridge, TN.
Feel free to copy this premise and let me know. I’d be fascinated to learn what other people learned in different times and places.
My oldest is now getting to be elementary school age, so I’ve been thinking back on all the things I remember learning.
- Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 with the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.
- Santa Claus is not real. (2nd grade)
- People will think you’re weird if you say your favorite Christmas gift was a watch, but it was a cute watch! It had little red fish on the band and it was soft and comfortable and I liked knowing what time it was.
- So many details about all nine planets
- My third grade teacher’s name is spelled F-E-R-G-U-S-O-N. She got tired of kids misspelling her name so she included it on one of one the spelling lists we got quizzed on.
- I suck at almost everything in PE, except for the sit and reach.
- If you claim to have put a bug in one of the two water fountains you will never have to wait in a long line to drink water. (I did not do this.) I still don’t know if this kid actually put a bug in there or not, but only four or…
