Don’t Get Too Attached to Where You Build Things
I used to love Twitter and really pay attention to how many followers I had on there. Now almost none of my friends are on there.
I paid attention to how many followers I had on Tiktok, Instagram, and Facebook and now many of my friends are jumping ship from those as well so those numbers are becoming meaningless just like Twitter’s.
I’ve realized that really the important thing is what I’m building. I’m continuing to improve my skills in comedy and writing. Those skills can be taken anywhere. And often my fans follow me to new places anyway.
I’ll lose some fans along the way, but that was always going to happen. Starting over in new places means I may also find new fans.
I didn’t have one childhood home growing up but several. I grew up in three different cities and often bounced around between different houses and apartments even in the same city.
If I’m with the right people it only takes about a week for a new place to feel like home to me. The people are more important than the physical location.
