It’s Funny and also True

I like to tell jokes that are true. I bend the truth a little bit, but nothing like some comedians do. I think the fact that my jokes are true makes them even funnier. Also easier to remember.

The following joke is very absurd, but it’s based on a conversation that really happened.

The big punchline at the end is also true, though I bend the truth a little bit by implying this conversation was the direct cause of my divorce.

Even though this conversation didn’t directly cause it, it was indicative of what was wrong with our marriage.

I think she would’ve preferred I lied and said I wouldn’t eat her. But to me, part of the beauty of close relationships is that you can be honest even about difficult things.

In some cases of course it is best to lie. Like if the truth would be too cruel. I wasn’t trying to be mean by saying I would eat her, though. I bet she would eat me too if the situation was reversed, even if she doesn’t want to admit it.
