My ex wife is a software engineer and I heard a lot about bad programmers while I was married. Seeing all the perks and money I considered going into the field as well. (It would've been a big step up from being a preschool teacher). I enjoy math and solving puzzles, but eventually decided it was not enough to make it a full time career. It's not my passion and I suspect I would've been one of those bad ones.
