My Experience Babysitting for People Far Wealthier than Me

I don’t currently babysit, because then I would need to find a babysitter for my own children, but I used to babysit for a handful of families.

All of them clearly had more money than me.

Now that I occasionally have babysitters some of them will tidy things up after the kids go to bed. I had never thought to do that when I was babysitting. I was too afraid of breaking something.

I always brought a book with me because I was afraid of messing up anyone’s TV. I’m not great with technology anyway and these families always had fancier stuff than what I was used to.

I knew how to take care of kids already because I was working in a preschool, but taking care of them in their homes is a bit different.

I don’t come up with the rules in their home.

One of the families lived close to the hospital and they mentioned that if there was an emergency, the hospital was just a short drive away. They left me the keys to one of their cars just in case.

Luckily there was no emergency because I had never put a kid in a car seat. Their car was also about fifteen years newer than any car I had ever been in, so I would’ve had a hard time figuring out how to turn it on.
